President John Taylor almost leaving his presidency signed Congressional revolution to annex Texas on march 1 ,1845.

When James K. Polk became president on September,1845 he belived in the Manifest destiny which was introduced by John L. O Suvillian.
Manifest destiny was an expansion from sea to sea.
Polk sent John Slidell to go negotiate with the General of Mexico Jose Herrera to buy New Mexico and california for a price of $30,000,000.
Herrera knew his intensions and did not receive Sidell to hear his offer.
